With League Championship Games, MLB Increases TV Viewership Share

Welcome to our weekly snapshot of TV by the numbers, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks for October 16-22, with insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).

Notably, each of the top eight programs retain their ranking positions week-over-week — but all except MLB and CNN News Central saw slight decreases in watch-time. MLB increased its viewership share to 3.83% from 2.71% previously, while CNN News Central was flat with 0.64% of minutes watched.

Some additional insights about the top programming on TV:

  • Among all the programming that had no change in chart position week-over-week, MLB (deep into the League Championship Series) was the only one that saw an increase in watch-time.

  • Elsewhere in sports, NFL RedZone moved from No. 15 to No. 11, capturing 0.54% of minutes watched.

  • Fox & Friends and CBS Mornings were the only two news programs that moved up the ranking week-over-week.

  • Week-over-week ranking newcomers include Family Feud (No. 23) and Chicago P.D. (No. 24).
