MLB Slides Into First for TV Watch-Time

Welcome to our weekly snapshot of TV by the numbers, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks for July 24-30, with insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).

Major League Baseball increased its viewership share from 0.93% to 1.17% week-over-week, putting it in first place above Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1.12%), which benefited from marathons on USA and ION. Meanwhile, Good Morning America slips from second to third with 0.96% of watch-time. 

Some additional insights about the top programming on TV:

  • The FIFA Women’s World Cup has kicked up a notch, moving from No. 9 to No. 7 week-over-week with 0.73% of minutes watched. 

  • PGA Tour golf putts into the top ten with a 0.57% viewership share. Golf is a frequent flyer on the program ranking, given its regular multi-day tournaments — last week, the 2023 Open Championship took first place.

  • CNN News Central maintains its position at No. 19 week-over-week, but saw a slight increase in watch-time, up to 0.47% from 0.45% previously.

  • Week-over-week ranking newcomers include SpongeBob SquarePants (No. 22), The First 48 (No. 23) and The Golden Girls (No. 25).
