TV Program Rankings: NBA Dominates, PGA Rolls into Top Five

Welcome to our weekly snapshot of TV by the numbers, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks for May 6-12, with insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).

The NBA playoffs grew its viewership share by a full percentage point week-over-week to own over 5% of all minutes watched and retain the first-place position on the chart. The Stanley Cup playoffs hold steady in second place while increasing watch-time to 1.70% from 1.61% previously. 

Some more insights about the week’s most-watched TV programming: 

  • PGA Tour golf jumps from No. 16 to No. 5 week-over-week, capturing a 0.93% viewership share. 

  • The 2024 NCAA Softball Selection show, which aired on ESPN2 on May 12, makes the ranking at No. 21 with 0.46% of minutes watched. 

  • True crime series Snapped jumps into the ranking at No. 23, fueled by reruns on Oxygen plus the special two-hour episode 20 Year Anniversary: Sharee Miller that aired on May 12. 

  • Additional week-over-week ranking newcomers include Chicago P.D. (No. 24) and Wheel of Fortune (No. 25).
