Memorial Day Weekend’s Most Binged Time-Shifted Shows

Many consider Memorial Day weekend the unofficial start of summer, and traditionally people celebrate the warmer weather with cook-outs and gatherings. But even as some states began to relax stay-at-home orders, many people may have decided to err on the side of caution and skip the gatherings to remain at home — perhaps sitting in front of the TV.

According to Inscape.tv, the TV data company with glass-level insights from a panel of more than 14 million smart TVs, during Memorial Day weekend, the most binge-watched time-shifted shows (based on minutes binged as a percent of all binged shows that Inscape measured) were Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Last Dance, The Office and Big City Greens, in that order.

Police procedurals such as the various Law & Order and NCIS series commonly make the ranking as they often air in syndicated marathons, making them perfect for DVRing and later bingeing. But it’s notable to see The Last Dance remain in the top five — it’s been there for weeks, and in fact, looking at April 19 through May 17, it was the No. 1 most binged time-shifted show. The finale of ESPN’s documentary miniseries about Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls aired on May 17, but people are still bingeing it, either catching up or rewatching.
