Each week, we highlight some of the top streaming or TV shows resonating with viewers. This week we took an in-depth look at the "sports section" to see what event garnered viewers' attention. The Nascar Cup Series - Geico 500 ranked #1 last week. See what new and old fans had to say!

The Nascar Cup Series - Geico 500 aired on June 22nd and garnered a whopping 265k tweets last week. The race attained the top linear spot, and featured sports superstars such as Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing), Ryan Blaney (No. 12 Team Penske), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing), and many others. In what ended as a very tight race that culminated in a photo finish, there were some interesting emotional reactions when compared to the Fan Shield 500which aired on March 8th, prior to COVID shutting sports down.

While LOVE and ENJOYMENT remained within the average range from airing to airing, EXCITEMENT reactions were 10% lower for the Geico 500; however, these reactions may have moved in some respects to CRAZY, as fans reacted to the heart-thumping ending. Some viewer reactions:

Despite the rain, 3.36 million viewers tuned in to see Nascar’s first race with live fans since the coronavirus pandemic restrictions began, with a live audience of over 5,000 patrons in the stands. While the outpouring of comments were a good sign overall for Nascar with LOVE/ENJOY remaining high and CRAZY soaring, the events were marred by off-track events that left the corporation reeling; with the need for an investigation into a possible hate crime. Viewers again took to Twitter to express how they felt, with a higher than average HATE reaction, up 8% over the previous Fan Shield 500 airing. Here is what some viewers stated:

But that wasn’t the only HATE, there were also a number of fans expressing HATE for the driver that beat their favorite team or took their car out of the race; showing that even from the couch, we’re not always good losers.
