CCR Media’s Ben Saboe and Zach Frost Share Insight Into Local TV, Cord-Cutting and Sports Media

In these interviews from CES 2024, CCR Media’s Ben Saboe (Director of Client Services) and Zach Frost (Director of Program Management) share key trends in local TV and its intersection with sports media moving into the streaming era and beyond.

Ben Saboe: I think local is really interesting—the fact that the market is so fragmented on what people are watching and how people are watching local is really interesting. People are breaking away from traditional models, obviously, we've got the cord-cutters, the cord-nevers. So it's very interesting to monitor those local channels in each of these markets across the various platforms, whether it's VOD or still on a linear type model, which is really kind of the CCR Media core product. And it's exciting to see the conversations that we're having this week on how we're going to tackle local next year, especially coming into an election year, to make sure everything's covered and these organizations are gathering what they need.

Zach Frost: I think in 2023, we kind of saw the uncertainty of the future of Bally Sports and also other regional sports networks. Some of the networks have already moved some of the sports content to local broadcast, and I'm curious to see how the effect of some of those regional sports going to that will take over, all the sports potentially moving to local, so definitely, something to keep an eye on in 2024.
