TV Program Rankings: MLB Swings Into the Top Three

Welcome to our weekly snapshot of TV by the numbers, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks for March 25-31, with insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).

March Madness continued to dominate TV viewership, with men’s games capturing a 5.35% share across the week, while the women’s tournament had a 2.36% share. MLB, which had its Opening Day on March 28, takes third place with the first few days of games accounting for 0.90% of minutes watched.

A few more highlights around last week’s top TV programming:

  • Elsewhere in sports, SportsCenter moves into sixth place with a 0.87% share, while NBA falls to No. 8 (0.68%) and PGA Tour golf drops to No. 14.

  • Several Fox News programs rise in the ranking: Fox & Friends moves up eight spots to No. 11, America Reports With John Roberts & Sandra Smith takes No. 17 (up from No. 22) and The Five lands at No. 20 (up from No. 24)

  • CNN News Central was a week-over-week ranking newcomer, jumping from No. 39 to No. 24 with 0.43% of watch-time.

  • Although it doesn’t quite make the ranking, Paramount Network darling Yellowstone ends up at No. 26 (0.42% share), thanks to a weekend rerun marathon after being absent from linear TV since mid-February.
