I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Jen for nearly 10 years. From our early days cutting our teeth at NBC Universal, helping to build the first wave of Social TV and Participatory storytelling, to having her as one of the early members of our BRaVe Experts in Residence program, Jen and BRaVe have been on a similar path. In this fast moving “Attention” economy, Jen is a true leader that will help provide the vision and leadership to win over everyone’s time and attention.

Jen Kavanagh Named President of BRaVe Story Ventures Division

During a time of great momentum in a rapidly changing digital landscape, BRaVe Story Ventures further fortifies BRaVe Media Ventures as a long-term strategic partner for clients that include major media brands, established start-ups and emerging industry players. BRaVe Story Ventures uses a proprietary methodology to source, develop and package content with high multi-platform and audience engagement potential – an approach that serves to inform the lifecycle of each investment from identification through distribution. At launch, projects in development include “Clarence B. Jones: I Know Who I Am,” “Foodstock” and “Ella the Engineer.” Based in New York City, BRaVe Story Ventures has named Jen Kavanagh as President, formerly of Beamly and NBCUniversal’s Oxygen Media, and has signed with United Talent Agency for representation in all areas.

“Clarence Jones: I Know Who I Am:” Important and culturally relevant, this is an untold story that ties into today’s timely discussions around race in America. Clarence B. Jones is the man behind some of the most important moments in modern American history. As Martin Luther King’s trusted adviser and attorney, Jones drafted portions of the “I Have a Dream” speech, and personally smuggled the “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” from Dr. King’s prison cell in Alabama, and helped organize the March on Washington. Jones also advised Malcolm X and, following Dr. King’s death, was involved in the Attica prison riot and Ali’s “Rumble in the Jungle.” By connecting Jones’ story with current conversations about race as well as youth culture through music, BRaVe Story Ventures and its production partners are offering an opportunity for active and critical support in what they believe will prove to be one of the defining documentaries of this generation.
“Foodstock:” Celebrity Chefs are paired with iconic musical artists to honor the heroes that combat hunger with food, fun and music. Michael Simon, the creator of VH1’s “Storytellers,” Director of NBC’s 2015 highest-rated comedy special, “Jeff Dunham Unhinged in Hollywood,” and Director of MTV’s top-rated series “Ridiculousness,” has partnered with TV Host and multiple award-winning Chef Michael Voltaggio to create “Foodstock.” Developed as a series and potentially a live event, the purpose is to bring awareness to the many wonderful organizations across the nation that are on the frontlines in the battle to end hunger. At “Foodstock,” food and music will come together for a purpose.
“Ella the Engineer:” Ella is a spirited 12-year-old coder with a passion for friends, technology, and fashion – in that order! In her world, girls who code are common and cool. Ella is also somewhat of a superhero fighting her hacker arch enemy and keeping her friends’ technology safe. Her world contains rich characters that are obsessed with different areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), including 3-D printing and device making. Ella and her story puts the subject of girls in STEM front and center in an entertaining way for kids and families.
