VR/Film Producers Selig and Martin, Investors Session Added to On The Lot Conference

Oscar-nominated film producers Lauren Selig and Peter Martin, who together also run virtual-reality shop V.A.L.I.S. Studios, will be keynote speakers at next week’s On The Lot conference.

Selig was an executive producer of the just-released Tom Cruise film “American Made” and 2016’s Oscar-winning Mel Gibson war film “Hacksaw Ridge.” Selig also heads IMAX’s $50 million VR Fund.

Martin produced the Oscar-nominated documentary “Waste Land” and formerly was creative director at Ealing Film Studios.

The conference, organized by the AR/VR Society, is focused on augmented and virtual reality technologies and content.

Organizers also added a “Meet The Investors” event to Saturday’s AR-focused track. Attendees with new companies can schedule one-on-one pitch and advice meetings with venture capitalists and top-level executives.

“Our goal is to accelerate the business of AR and VR content in these incredibly exciting days,” said Jim Chabin, the AR/VR Society’s president. “We know that financing will be as critical to success as great content, so this meeting brings both the investment and creative communities together to help activate new business relationships.”

The conference will run Oct. 13 and 14 at The Lot Studios in West Hollywood. The Saturday sessions will be focused on augmented reality.

Other just-announced speakers include: John Moon (Honda), Aaron Luber (Google), Rick Champagne (NVIDIA), Ravi Velhal (Intel), Marcie Jastrow (Technicolor), Wim Buyens (Barco), Bruce Vaughn (Dreamscape), Ted Schilowitz (Paramount Pictures), John Canning (PGA/NBC) and Mia Tramz (LIFE VR).

Previously announced speakers include two-time Oscar winning art director Robert Stromberg (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Avatar“), writer/director Jerry Zucker (“Airplane!,” “The Naked Gun”) and Unity Technologies’ global head of VR/AR Tony Parisi.

Roy Taylor – who heads AMD Studios, managing VR partnerships across film, broadcast and other verticals and with hardware makers – will give the opening keynote.

Tickets and more information about the conference are available at VROnTheLot.com. Discount tickets are available for Oculus Connect attendees, members of all entertainment guilds such as the DGA, WGA and Producers Guild, students and seniors.
